The inspired performance on this album was recorded live at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris in October 2002. After a softly spoken introduction, the sitar virtuoso and showman Vilayat Khan performs Raga Bihag, a popular and beautiful night time raga which is associated with the Shringar Rasa (an emotion associated with love and romance). He is joined by the exciting tabla player Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari, otherwise known as ‘Pinky’, and between them these two musicians conjure up beautiful and magical sounds that are captured brilliantly in this wonderfully atmospheric recording.
